Avoid extended idling, vary speeds for the first 100-200 miles of driving, and do not do any heavy towing for the first 500 miles.
Change oil at 250-500 miles, then every 3000 miles or 3 months after.
On flat tappet cams, use conventional oil with a zinc additive for at least the first 500 miles. For high performance applications it is recommended to continue using zinc additives. Synthetic oil can be used after the initial break-in period.
